In the past The Giggles have presented unique, innovative and groundbreaking workshops, seminars, icebreakers and keynotes for your workplace, conference or support group.  These workshops are now facilitated through Lotus Health and Wellbeing, by the same facilitator Hannah Airey.


The Giggles is still run by Hannah, but is now more focussed towards laughter workshops for support groups, voluntary community clubs and training for those interested in personal development and for those who would like to run their own clubs around New Zealand.

Laughter Workshops
We facilitate stress management and team building workshops by using a powerful combination of positive psychology and unconditional laughter.  Our Laughter Workshops are based on the concept of Laughter Yoga, which uses laughter exercises combined with deep diaphragmatic breathing (wipe all images of sitting in the lotus position and giggling from your mind!). When people laugh together it instills a high trust, positive environment where anything is possible.  When this is done through something as fun and as simple as unconditional  laughter, it is incredibly empowering for individuals.  We help people get in touch with themselves again and give them tools to take away, which they can use in all spheres of their lives.

Laughter instantly connects people, dissolves judgment and ego, and breaks down barriers such as age, race, religion, language, heirachy and physical capabilities. 

Laughter has profound effects 
on our mental and physical state of being:
  • the release of endorphins and serotonin;
  • decreases levels of stress hormones;
  • beats depression and anxiety;
  • boosts the immune system;
  • increases circulation;
  • floods the body with oxygen;
  • is an aerobic exercise;
  • and improves communication and creativity.

Laughter is our body's natural antidote to stress.  When we laugh, we release a cocktail of chemicals including endorphins and serotonin which help with depression and anxiety.  Our fight and flight response is shut down and the body is able to process the residual stress hormones - cortisol and adrenaline, in our bodies.
